Last week, the test version of Blizbi was launched in the Stavanger and Ryfylke region. This new platform makes it easier to discover events, activities, and experiences in your local area. With a mission to strengthen community ties and give visibility to both small and large organizers, Blizbi now invites users to take part in shaping the platform further. Photo: Anne Siri Gregersen.
Just over two years ago, Helene Birkeland had an idea: what if there were a platform that made it easy to discover everything happening around you – right where you are? As a mother of young children, an entrepreneur, and someone who loves spending time outdoors, she missed having a clear, user-friendly and locally relevant overview of things to do. Now that idea has come to life, and the test version of Blizbi is up and running in Stavanger and Ryfylke. The platform gathers everything from concerts and talks to hiking suggestions and local community events – tailored to users’ interests and location.
The goal is to lower the barrier to participation, create more meaningful experiences in the local community, and shine a light on local organizers and initiatives that are often overlooked. It’s not just about filling your calendar – it’s about making it easier to take part in what’s happening, discover new meeting places, and contribute to local value creation.
Bent Hansen in TEAL has been involved as a sparring partner from the very beginning – from the first sketches to the current prototype. Through Næringshageprogrammet, Helene has received both financial support and hands-on guidance to help develop and clarify the direction for Blizbi. She has expressed deep gratitude for the support she’s received.
«It’s meant more than I’ve probably managed to express in the moment – but I truly mean it when I say: I couldn’t have done this without your support!» – Helene Birkeland
The app was released as a beta version last week, and development is now continuing in close collaboration with users. Everyone is encouraged to test it, share feedback, and help spread the word so the platform can evolve in line with real needs. At the same time, work continues on building a strong technological foundation that will make it possible to expand to more regions throughout 2025.
The ambition is for Blizbi to become the go-to solution for discovering small and large experiences – whether you’re a local, a visitor, or an organizer. It’s still early days, but the direction is clear: Blizbi aims to make it easier to find and take part in everything happening right outside your door.
