Fjellam frå Ryfylke SA is a collaboration consisting of proud sheep producers. They want to take care of the great grazing tradition in Ryfylke, and ensure the good quality as a result. In 2021, they entered into an agreement as a supplier of lamb to Prima Jæren, and the products will be sold by Albert Idsøe in Stavanger. A.Idsøe is widely known for its expertise and quality products in meat processing, and one of the products launched in 2021 is cold-smoked Pinnekjøtt by Fjellam frå Ryfylke. This product gets signed up in the national competition within local food products, Det Norske Måltid, and goes all the way to the top, and wins the gold medal for this year’s meat, processed.
Jury comment:
«The product shows craftsmanship of the highest class. Here, carefully selected ingredients set the standard for a premium product. The winning product is easy to prepare and the taste is well balanced. The meat is delicate and juicy, and has nice tones of smoke. The meat filling is good and so is the taste of the fat. This is a very good Pinnekjøtt, and the judges love the long sticks!”
TEAL has followed Fjellam frå Ryfylke through several projects and processes. Most of the assignment is a project with application writing to Norsk Mat (formerly Matmerk) for an application for a «Beskyttet Geografisk Betegnelse». This is a very strict brand protection, and will be a separate regulation if it comes through the eye of the needle. We are now in the final sprint for this application, and within a year, we will have received an answer if this is finally approved.
